On a beautiful spring day in Connecticut, I met Gabriella and Corey at Harkness Memorial State Park for their romantic couples photo session. Gaby and Corey had just gotten married less than a year before our session. After celebrating with a small ceremony with their families, they wanted photos to capture this new season of their lives. It was an honor to document it for them.
These two, though quiet, were an absolute joy to work with. We wandered around the gardens and while the wisteria wasn’t in bloom, the pergolas were a gorgeous and fun structure to incorporate into their photos. After finishing up by the gardens, we headed down to the beach to try and get a few photos with the sunset. At the end of our session, I remembered I had my little point-and-shoot film camera with me. I asked if they would be open to a few more quick photos with it. Gaby immediately said yes – and because she said yes, Corey followed suit (even though I had already kept them out there way longer than I promised we would…). I left this session feeling like I had just had the best start to my season possible and I absolutely adore these photos. I cannot wait to capture another couple or photograph a wedding at Harkness Memorial one day.
The quality of these few film photos I captured isn’t perfect – they’re a little grainy and a little soft – but honestly, the colors, the texture, and the feel they brought completely made up for it. They added so much character to the session and captured Gaby and Corey’s vibe in such a beautiful, effortless way.
