There’s something about hopping on the Amtrak from Providence to New York City that never gets old. When I was younger, living in the city was my dream. While that dream has shifted over the years, visiting NYC still gives me such a thrill, especially when it’s for a romantic spring NYC engagement session like this one.
When Minhee and Chris booked their wedding with me, Minhee asked if I’d be open to traveling to NYC for their engagement photos. My immediate answer? Absolutely yes. And I’m so glad I did. These two are completely in love, incredibly kind, and totally game for running all around the city to make some magic together during their spring engagement shoot.
The day started bright & early at 5 a.m. when I caught the train to NYC with one specific shot in mind. We planned to arrive at the New York Public Library just before opening to beat the crowds. That vision I had? We nailed it. The library gave us not only the shot I had hoped for, but so many more stunning moments that I’ll never forget.
After wrapping up at the library, Minhee and Chris changed into a second outfit, and we made our way to Felix Roasting Co. for a much-needed caffeine break. Honestly, it’s one of the most beautiful cafés I’ve ever seen. The rich interiors and dreamy lighting made it the perfect cozy backdrop for a few romantic portraits. If you’re dreaming of New York City engagement photos with timeless architecture and classic romance, this spot delivers.
We ended our NYC engagement session at Bethesda Terrace in Central Park. It’s popular and often bustling with locals and tourists, but it’s also one of my favorite spots to photograph. The architecture is breathtaking, and with spring in full bloom, the setting felt even more magical.
I love when couples want to make the most of their engagement session. It gives us time to connect, get to know each other, and build trust before the wedding day. It also helps couples relax in front of the camera, and that comfort makes a huge difference. Minhee and Chris embraced every moment, and it truly paid off. Their engagement session in NYC this past spring laid the foundation for wedding portraits that felt effortless, authentic, and full of joy.
Whether you’re dreaming of the quiet beauty of the New York Public Library, the charm of a cozy café, or iconic Central Park locations like Bethesda Terrace, I’m always up for some romantic NYC engagement photos, especially in the spring or fall!
